Living with Long Term Conditions

In line with National Strategy for CCGs to support Self Management of those with Long Term Conditions, West Wight Sports Centre is offering a programme of education and appropriate exercise for those Living with Long Term Conditions. The programme is supported by a IWCCG grant, delivered by a multi-disciplinary team, with support from experienced third sector staff and patients with experience of living with long term conditions. The Events Coordinator running the programme is Krissy Lloyd, supported by the IWCCG Clinical Lead Dr Annette Scivier.

Any Island resident, their family or carers are welcome to attend these informal talks, share a drink and ask questions, before participating in a short exercise session led by trained staff at the sports centre. It costs just £2 to get involved. The aim is to encourage independence and improved choices for care of Long Term Conditions.

Groups targetted initially are those living with:

  • Diabetes
  • Neurological Conditions
  • Chronic Pain
  • Mobility Problems
  • Respiratory Conditions (Breatheasy are also running a programme particularly for this catagory at West Wight Sports Centre)

Programmes throughout the year will be publicised on the Sports Centre website as well as advertised in County Press and Beacon.
