Medicines Optimisation

Please do not visit a pharmacy if you are showing symptoms of Covid-19 (a new persistent cough and/or high temperature) – instead self-isolate, visit NHS 111 online at or call 111

Get your repeat prescription as you usually do. If you've run out of prescription medicine and need it urgently contact your pharmacy as soon as you can

You can ask someone else to collect your prescription for you if you are self-isolating or sheltered because of your age, or an existing medical condition. They will need to give the name and address of the person the medicine is for.  Or call the Isle of Wight Council helpline on 01983 823600 to ask for a volunteer to deliver to you. Another option is to order prescriptions online from a reputable national pharmacy who can deliver by post.

If you go to the pharmacy then leave a two-metre gap between you and everyone else.

Don't go to the pharmacy to get other things like paracetamol, soap or plasters. Please get these items as part of your essential weekly shop.

The Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning Group (IOW CCG) Medicines Optimisation Team is responsible for the provision of medicines on the Isle of Wight. We work with the general practices, community pharmacies and care homes. We aim to ensure that prescribing is evidence-based, safe and effective and a good use of the limited financial resources of the NHS.
