Safeguarding is high on the IWCCG agenda. The IWCCG is committed to ensuring that children and vulnerable adults are not at risk from being abused or neglected and receive the care they require. Safeguarding is an important function of the IWCCG through commissioning and through the delivery of care from those contracted by the IWCCG. Safeguarding is therefore a commitment throughout primary and secondary care on and off  the Island, and in individual placements to care homes. The IWCCG wants to develop effective policies and protocols that help prevent neglect and abuse. It recognises the need to work with other organisations in order to achieve this goal.

The IWCCG will also note and act in accordance with recommendations from national enquiries such as the Winterbourne Review.
